Great Article on “The Guild”!

March 26, 2008

We’ve had our fair share of writeups lately, but we’re definitely flattered and pleased as punch at Tilzy’s write-up on our show here, as well as a great video interview from SXSW with Felicia and Sandeep. Check it out! Thanks Josh and Co. @ Tilzy.TV.  Keep up with their great New Media Coverage by subscribing to their feed.  They obviously have good taste. :)

“The Guild” Press for Tuesday

March 25, 2008

I’m sure all this will let up soon enough, but we’re lucky to be getting a lot of coverage on our show!

Last night at the New Tee Vee meetup in LA, we did a little interview you can see here!

And thank you fan Darth Angelus for alerting us to some physical magazine goodness about The Guild in PC Gamer UK!  Quote:

“The Guild is about a small but diverse group of people who play an unnamed (but suspiciously WoW-like) MMO. The story kicks off when one of these players crosses the boundary between in-game friendships and real life, and drags the rest along. Day’s writing (she also stars and produces) is sharp and often very funny. And rather than resorting to the outdated geek stereotypes conventional TV insists on, The Guild lampoons real MMO player archetypes: the stay-at-home mother, the over-enthusiastic, etc. It’s also refreshing to watch something that’s professionally produced, about games, and doesn’t wildly, wilfully, insultingly misunderstand them. It’s Day’s show, she’s been a hardcore gamer for 22 years, and it shows.”

Here’s a jpg he took of the page.  We don’t get that magazine here, but now we have a picture!  Thanks Darth!

And lastly, Eldorian, a huge supporter of the show since the wee days last year, did another lovely writeup alerting WoW Stratics readers to our Episode 8 upload!  Read it here!

ComiCon Anyone?

March 24, 2008

So, we’ve been looking into doing something at Comicon, we will have our Season 1 DVD out around then, but the booths are totally sold out! Does anyone know of someone who would be interested in sharing a booth they have, or at the very least, letting us do a Guest appearance at their booth to meet fans? Send us any ideas about ComiCon you have at watchtheguild (at) gmail.com! Thanks everyone!

Temporarily Taking Down Donor Button!

March 24, 2008

Well, we’re in an interesting position here at the Guild: We’ve made our whole budget for the season! Because of all the new contributors finding us through our recent awards, we have gotten enough money to pay our actors a bit, the first time they’ve ever made any money on The Guild, so thank you so much!

With an embarrassment of riches like this, we are facing a very long credits for Episodes 9 and 10, and, since we don’t know if we’ll have a production partner for season 2 or not, we don’t want to take people’s money until we know we need it. So for now, we’re taking off the Paypal button.

If, in a month or so, we end up having our donors sponsor Season 2, we will put back the button. Also, we’re putting together a DVD of season 1 with lots of yummy extras, that will definitely be able to jump start us on the Season 2 budget if we so need.

Please make sure to put your email in the mailing list to the right in the sidebar, so we can contact you about our Season 2 plans, and how you can help the show in the near future!

Thank you so much for your support. We look forward to making you laugh many more episodes in the future, most immediately with Episodes 9 and 10!

New Links about The Guild!

March 23, 2008

We’ve gotten a lot of cool press about our show lately, so we have some links we’d like to share with you, and some sites we want to give some love to for their support!

  • The Los Angeles Times’ New Media Blog declares “The Guild” winner of overall “Best Tuby” from the YouTube 2007 video awards! Thanks LA Times! :)
  • New Tee Vee has a SXSW interview posted with Felicia and Sandeep about the show here.
  • Daisy Whitney’s “New Media Minute” has an interview with tips from online content producers, including Felicia’s tips on how to get your show seen.
  • Shout out to Massively, the news site about MMO games that we at “The Guild” love, who posts about Episode 8 and our wins. They’ve been a great supporter of the show, along with Veronica Belmont at Mahalo Daily, and the Joss Whedon fans at whedonesque.com so check their sites out!
  • Also Alert Nerd has a really great blog entry on the show. Sarah’s comments are really lovely, especially the ones about the character “Codex”. They really pinpoint why Felicia wrote the series in the first place. Girl nerds as lead characters FTW! Thanks Sarah!

SXSW Interviews with “The Guild” and…remember to Vote!

March 15, 2008

Remember to vote in the Yahoo Video awards! Break a Leg is creeping up on us, so if you haven’t voted, please just cast your vote, it’s an easy click! I suspect there’s a stealth campaign to steal the win, so don’t let that happen!

And most importantly, vote in the YouTube awards! You can vote EVERY DAY, 1 X per day, until the 19th, and our competition there is going to be very hard to beat. We’re in category with a big, glossy, corporate funded series, so help the little guy win…that’s us! :)

Here are a few interviews for you to enjoy from SXSW:

Will update with more articles as our interviews are posted!

BTW…Please vote :)
