How many of you guys are like me and started out with old school pen and paper role playing games.

What have you played? What are your favorites? Know any good games going with open slots? ;)

Though I never played it, the first game I ever bought was Tunnels & Trolls way back in 1979. AD&D was my first real game and I've played a wide array of games from Call of Cthulhu to home bashed sci fi games. I haven't played anything in years but despite my advanced age, i'm 42, I still find it can be a fun social experience that can build new friendships more than annonymous online gaming.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Flames? ;)

most of the offline or irl games ive seen recently are either minatures games like warhammer, or tcg's (Trading Card Games) / ccg's (Customizable Card Games) like the ST:CCG

I've never played any of the ccgs, but I've had a good deal of experience with Necromunda, a spinoff of Warhammer. I've also played a lot of “beer & pretzles” games like “Nuclear War”, “Illuminati” etc. I used to game regurlarly at “The Flying Buffalo” and actually know some of the people the cards in Nuclear War are modeled after. The “Super Virus” card, for example, is a very good likness of a fellow named Cliff who was also a regular at the Buffalo.

I never played Vampire the Masquerade the board game by White Wolf, but Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines is my favorite game of all time
