Maybe the worst sales pitch, but i will agree with Ghost.
AC has the best character development engine out there. Unlike the other games where your stats and skill increases are fixed with a minimal input from you for specialization, you decide what you want to develop as each stats are individually increasable the way you want it to. You can increase vital stats if you want or skills stats using your experience points. You want to develop a gifted artisan, funnel all your points in those skills. You can end up with an artisan that can be killed by a bunny, but one that can create a uber godly weapon. Or make a tank that can't cast a level 1 spell but he can take repeated 300 pts attacks. Your character can truely turn out the way you want it.
The quests are very good and plentifull for every levels. Unlike most other MMPORGS, there isn't much of “go and get this item from Paul and take it to Peter in a completely different part of the world and then go to tell something to someone else who apparently care enough to send you on another run across the world” type quest. Many of AC's quests are not a chain where you need to talk to 10 different ppl and do 10 different things to do the quest.
The PvP is actually pretty good. Although i find that uber level tend to prey on lowbies, worst, camping lifestones. However, PvP is not well organized in the context of world control. You'll see a group running around and kicking other groups' butt, but they won't get together to take over a city or an area.
Admitedly, the grahics on AC are nowhere as nice as other games like LOTR, WOW or GW. that my be my old computer though.
I played the initial AC for almost 2 years on and off and managed to solo a 4 school mage to 60. I quit for quite a few year then went back to it with Throne of Destiny. This time, i soloed an archer to 66. I quit last year and just came back a month ago.
I still enjoy it, although not as often as i used to.
