Hey Codex!

I grew up in Huntsville myself and went to Grissom High School. But that was many years ago.

Anyway, I really enjoy your quirky style of acting. Great job at keeping it real.

Best of luck. I suspect you have a wonderful future ahead of you.

Hey

My parents went to Grissom I believe, small world! My aunt has a children’s theatre in Madison, if they have shows, go see them :)

Thanks for posting!

Felicia

It’s good enough for the blind.

I moved from Huntsville a long time ago, but I still visit kin in Madison — a small world indeed! Next time I go there I’ll look into the children’s theater.

Thanks for all you do. This must be a fun trip for you to be on. Enjoy it to the fullest!

PS good luck with your list, by the way. Did anybody ever tell you that you’re too organized?

Hey,

Good to see some fellow Alabamians. I grew up in Dothan.

Good luck with the show.

Hey!

I remember Dothan — I’m pretty sure I debated there a few times in High School. Long way from Huntsville if I recall — almost GA/FLA.

I’d say "Roll Tide" but I don’t know that anybody know about that anymore!

OK, you are an honorary Alabamian then !!

All hail Pensacola (a place I spent many a vacation at).

(What is really important is that you are a guildie)

Coloradan here but would Roll Tide be something related to the CrimsonTide?

I’m your source of self destruction.

Absolutely!

"Roll Tide!!" is the cheer of all UA fans. Of course Auburn University Tiger fans won’t appreciate it.

How very interesting …

I grew up in Huntsville, went to Grissom, and I was on the debate team. I now live in Madison but back in the day, Grissom Debate kicked much ass … too bad Stan gave it up :(

Stan was my coach!!!
We were a kick-ass team. I left in the middle of my Junior year, 1974 I think, to move to New York. When did you go? By the time I went, Stan’s program was well established. But I didn’t think he lasted very long after I left (maybe I wore him out).

True story…When I was a Freshman at Grissom, I was not doing well in Geometry, Stan’s class. (I had always been, and continued to be a math wiz of sorts, but the proofs were just not my thing at that time.) Anyway, I was getting ready to get a C in Geometry, my first, when Stan approached me about joining the debate team. I told him, off the cuff, that I’d love to debate, but there was no way my parents would allow me to start traveling all over if I got a C in a class. Darned if he didn’t add 4 points to every person’s grade, bringing my average to a 80 claiming something about too many low grades needing to be boosted up on the "curve".

He owned my soul after that.

You were a little before my time it seems ;) I was class of ‘85 but Stan was still the debate coach all the way. I think he retired from debate coaching in 87 or 88, then finally completely retired a few years after that. Last I heard he’s got a home in Tenn.

Too funny!

When I was debating with the team, Stan was notorious for 1) restoring Corvettes and 2) driving absolute junk cars.

When we went to tournaments, he drove an old station wagon piled high with kids and suitcases. The steering wheel used to pull off in his hands. Scared the crap out of us.

So did he still drive junk 10 years later?

Oh most definitely :) He drove a wretched blue and silver van when I was on the team. I’m sure it had a hole in the muffler or something because it was impossible to sleep on the longer trips. We did have some kids tho whose parents let us use their camper for ocassional trips.

Being nursed back to health by a lass named Storm

Some of the old team members actually tried to get a reunion going a couple of years ago but I guess nothing ever came of it. I only got one email about it and then nothing further. Would have been nice to catch up with some of those folks.

Ah well :)

One of my favorite bands, Daikaiju, is from Huntsville. I heard about them on some Sci Fi podcast and saw them when they came through San Antonio. Good stuff. :)

See them play if you have the chance.

So it goes…
