First of all: Love your show. Stumbeled over it when I was browsing some other WoW videos
Anyways, about your Banner, who’s the one in purple armor? The rest I can see who is, but the middle one hasn’t been introduced yet. A tiny spoiler please?

Hey,
That’s Tink! Yes, it’s not the best resemblance, but I wanted her character to be an elf, different from the rest of the crew :)

Have you guys been approached yet about making an actual TV show? I think it would be a hit on a channel like G4

It would be easy to adapt this series to television, but to be honest it would be easy to adapt a Geico commercial to television. The real question is why would you want to ruin a good thing like this?
The problem would be that the end result would look a bit like every other sitcom out there, and it’d quickly steer away from the group of unsocial misfits being social, and turn into a soap opera, cuz nowadays that’s what network TV does to practically every intriguing idea. They use the original idea as the hook to reel you in and before you know it character A is pregnant and it might be character B or Cs, and character D has some deep dark secret that character B knows about and wants to tell character C but character A says not to and blah blah blah blah blah.
Of course if this were regular television, we know that eventually Cortex and Zaboo will have sex but it won’t be until either season five or when the producers think the show might get cancelled whichever comes first, and then after they do have sex the series will drag on for another three years but everyone will wish it stopped back in season four when it was still funny.
Part of what makes WtG work is the fresh dynamics between characters. I can’t easily compare this collection of characters with any other TV series. They’re not so much stereotypes as they are archetypal examples - people who are like people we’ve all met online.. or ‘are’ admittedly.
In fact I’m mildly disappointed that we’re only four episodes in and they’re already going to meet. Frankly I would have preferred the story start back a few months to show more of the status quo, before Zaboo went for his Hail Mary pass. I mean, why? That’s an extreme move to make. What led to this decision?
However, this particular YouTube medium, with the short attention span, requires that the status quo be disrupted more quickly, which is why Zaboo’s already in her house. If this had been a television series, that probably wouldn’t have happened until around Sweeps.
It’s better the way it is. Although if a network executive ever arrives at their doorstep with a heavy checkbook, they should absolutely sell out, provided there’s no recasting. Don’t let network execs recast this. They’d replace (insert your favorite on the show) with (insert random current celebrity name) in a heartbeat, and I’d have to punch me some Suits.

"The big guys" would totaly trash the entire feel behind it. Although I think a sitcom about gamers is long overdue. I myself hate watching TV unless the internet is down, I’m being social or something actually catches my attention. But I would certainly park my buttox on the couch to watch this if it went that far.

I think ‘funding’ them rather than taking over and making a 30 min thing out of it. I think WTG would loose the funny if it was spread over such a time frame - as much as I’d love to watch more. Less is more? I’m hanging out for ep 4, thrilled to bits that there’s going to be up to ep 6 at the moment.
The donations seem to be giving them enough on a regular basis to make more. Perhaps branching off to t-shirts, mouse pads and such (from cafe press? J!nx? etc) would help with more funds.
Felicia as the writer seems to have either had first had experience with the life sucking warcrack or has seen other people have it happen to them (or on the off chance, be a really damn good writer - which she is, but stillllll).
Anyway, an add on the right of the main web site some well placed products would be a lot better than e-friends… aha

I myself only watch Star Trek Voyager on Spike TV and Adult Swim on Cartoon Network. Other than that, my TV is used for DVD’s. Which is all located next to Master(What I named my computer hehe). But yeah, I hope the power stays with the producers and such as is. I’d hate to see a network rape something that we already love and start using idiotic demographics. With how us gamers get abused on shows, like the stereotypical nerds who play D&D. More than nerds roleplay and game after all.

After mulling it over in my mind off and on I think it would be possible to preserve the feel of Guild for regular TV, but unfortunately that wouldn’t be high priority for the middlemen between the artistic talent making it now for the Net, and us watching it. There’s people in Hollywood whose job it seems is to suck the marrow out of any art living before it can make it to the waiting public. If Day and the others could be vigilant and catch those slack vampires in the act before they destroyed Guild, we’d get the next best thing on television since… uhm… since something good that was once on television.
Currently I have found myself addicted to NBCs Heroes, but it has lost its novelty and the quality of the show has sadly deteriorated. It started off great, but now feels rushed and unpleasantly scatterbrained. Too many cooks. I can’t think of any other show… well maybe Lost but I’m considering not returning to it on principle next year. I find this hiatus thing rather bizarre and offensive to the audience. I frankly don’t care anymore if they get off that island or not.
Right now my television is off. If someone on a network would pick up Guild, I’d have another reason to turn my TV on. I find the stuff on YouTube more fun and entertaining than regular TV, and I don’t feel I’m being unwelcomely bombarded by commercials and propaganda quite as much.

Everyone makes a valid point here. I know I’m not the first to say this, but we ought to keep this and this TYPE of thing FAR away from TV executives and contracts and the like, especially since the writers’ strike is going on. We need to find an alternative.. I mean, we HAVE, but we need to PERMANENTLY stick it to these networks and companies and corporations that pasteurize this type of thing to grab the biggest market possible, and ok, that’s understandable in a business sense.. but in an artistic sense (yes, i said it) it would be suicide. This is very exciting and scary time as far as art and music and information go.. the old guard is crumbling.. but not without a fight. So let’s support this, and future projects like it, in a different way. I’m totally getting a t-shirt, for instance, next paycheck! And this is how it should be done.. we who love this stuff should help them to keep their vision true, no compromises.. and trust me, as soon as this got into the hands of ANYone else, compromises will have to be made. As far as ‘The Guild’ goes, I have faith that the people in charge already know this.. I hope they do, anyways.. I think I’d cry if this thing got co-opted.
Love Always,
Mark
