    EDIT:
Per request we are posting the lyrics to the song!
MUSIC AND LYRICS BY FELICIA DAY AND JED WHEDON

    LYRICS:
Hang with me in my MMO
So many places we can go
You’ll never see my actual face
Our love, our love will be in a virtual space

I’m craving to emote with you
So many animations I can do
Be anything you want me to be
Come on, come on, share a potion with me

    CHORUS:
Do you wanna date my Avatar
    She’s a star
And she’s hotter than reality by far
    Wanna date my Avatar?

    You can type commands
I’ve got slots for what I hold in my hands
Don’t care what’s in your character bank
How ‘bout, How ‘bout a little tank and spank

Grab your mouse and stroke the keys
Here in cyberspace there’s no disease
Pick a time, send a tell to me
Just pay, just pay a small subscription fee

    CHORUS

    Single white human,
    Looking for group
    My stats so high
Don’t be out of the loop

    Got an uber-leet staff
    That you can equip
    Close your mouths ladies
    This is pure nerd-nip

    I’m a pixel-based fantasy
    A man who is stoic
    I hack and slash
    Who the heck’s more heroic?

    Check me out:
    Cloth armor
    Fits me like a glove
    Just twitta a time
    And I’m ready for love

Hang with me in my MMO
So many places we can go
I’m better than a real world quest
You’ll touch, my plus 5 to dexterity vest

What role do you wanna play
I’m just a click away night or day
And if you think I’m not the one
Log off, Log off and we’ll be done

Thank you so much and stay tuned for Season 3 rollout, just around the corner! August 25th on Xbox Live and September 1rst on MSN/ZUNE!

I am so very addicted to this song.

  • jkyuusai

There’s an error in the last chorus line (2nd to last stanza). It should read, “dexterity” instead of “intelligence.”

  • jkyuusai

Oh, and love the video! Already bought the song on Amazon.

  • Zim

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought you were singing “+5 to dexterity vest”

  • Me

The line “You’ll touch, my plus 5 to intelligence vest” is actually to “Dexterity” =)

Not that I’ve watched it a tonne of times today or anything…

  • Me

Nevermind. By the time I typed my comment it was already fixed…

You go the lyrics wrong! You put
    “Any role you wanna play
    I’m waiting, night or day”

    It’s:
    “What role you wanna play,
I’m just a click away, night or day”

I know your the experts but hey!

Unless I’m reading something wrong… “You’ll touch, my plus 5 to dexterity vest” makes no sense. Perhaps it was meant as “You’ll touch my plus 5-2 dexterixty vest”? 5-2 as in “fifty-two”? Am I right, or is “+5 to dexterity vest” somehow supposed to make sense?

  • Cayce P

  • Scott Gerhardt

I have never seen such a perfect combination of wit, beauty, and ability to just “get it” ever. Most “professionals” don’t put out this kinda quality, in both song and video. It is absolutely sheer genius. HUGE props to Felicia and Jed for giving the world of gamers such a unique gift. The accolades are coming in for not just this, but everything. It is truly, truly exciting to have been there from near the beginnings of a grass roots movement to see one of the most gifted people out there become the mega superstar that you shall soon be to not just the gaming world, but the world in general. Kudos.

  • Scott Gerhardt

Yes Nate, +5 to Dexterity vest makes perfect sense.

  • Gnompalledun

Just a few tiny corrections to the lyrics, sorry to be so anal but hey, I play a gnome. We don’t miss the small stuff.
First set of brackets denotes deletion, second set denotes addition.

Codex 2nd verse, 4th line: Come on, come on, [][and] share a potion with me

    Bridge:
    Zaboo 1st rap, 2nd & 3rd line: That you can[]['t] equip
    Close your mouths [][up] ladies
Vork 2nd rap, 2nd line: A man [who is][so] stoic
Zaboo 2nd rap, 5th line: [And][] I’m ready for love

Codex 5th verse, 4th line: You’ll touch, my [plus][+]5 to dexterity vest

I know it’s extra anal to want to see “plus 5″ as “+5″, but that’s how nerds would write it.

  • Dom

Awesome job on the music video!

  • Thespis

Nate, it’s a gaming language structure.

“My dagger gives me +6 to Agility!”

The bonus is +6, and it applies to the Agility.

It may seem like on would say “My Dagger gives me +6 Agility!” but some how (I imagine this came from the tabletop rpg background) we gamers say “to” the given attribute.

Might be the GM saying (as he realizes he needs to give the guys some neat loot….) “Ok…. you get a dagger with +6 … to…. (thinks) Agility!:
    “Duude! Awesome! +6 to Agility!”

  • Sean

  • Teufelaffe

    Fantastic video! Love it!

I have a question though…one of the dancers has a tattoo on the inside of her right thigh. I’m really curios as to what it is since you don’t get a good look at it during the video.

  • Seriphe

Nate, it’s “my plus-five-to-dexterity vest”, as in the vest has +5 dex

  • Izzy

The verse before the second chorus, it should read ‘Here in cyberspace there’s no disease’ not ‘In cyberspace’. Best song ever, by the way.

  • Mike

Nooo, it isn’t available in the Swedish iTunes store. Why do you choose to tease me so? ;)

  • http://www.transmatrix.net Kevin

@Nate +5 to dexterity or +1 to strength is a common way of referring to a weapon or armor piece that adds a bonus to an ability in role playing games. As in, “I’ve got an Ogre-slaying knife! It’s got a plus nine against ogres!”

  • is

that’s the funniest video ever! you guys knocked it out of the park

  • Imaria

    Nate, it’s:

You’ll touch my “+5 to dexterity” vest.

That means it’s a vest that provides +5 to her dexterity stat. (As well as an apparent +5 to her charisma, but that is neither here nor there.)

    Nerd knowledge: NOW YOU KNOW!

  • Steve Pogo

I noticed that the video is available on iTunes, but not the mp3. Could you please make the song available there too?

If I could buy it from iTunes, I definitely would.

@Nate “+5 to dexterity” makes perfect sense to a role-player… It adds +5 TO your DEXTERITY attribute. It’s a slightly clunky word order (I think we’d generally say “Vest of +5 to dexterity”), but poetic license and all that…

  • Kevin X

LOL! Love how every main cast member got in their game counterpart’s costumes and did the music video that way. Brilliantly written and directed song!

  • Lordao

Sorry to point this out, but you got the lyrics wrong(again….)

If you ever play a MMO all times can add to your stats (things like Int, Con Str, etc) and you can earn points to spend in each of the stats. Dexterity is the stat that refers to speed, agility that kind of thing, so that line is referring to an item (in this case a vest) that adds five points to Dexterity when equipped. *Shrugs* Simple really. (BTW No one ever gets their hands on my stat modded items and lives!!)

Loved the track. Did nothing but laugh all way through it, then got yelled at by my GM for popping link up in GC mid raid!

  • Shirila

((Grrr all items rather in first sentence. Sorry!))

  • V

    @Nate
“+5 to dexterity vest” does make sense. The vest grants a +5 bonus to the wearer’s dexterity stat. A “+5 to dexterity” bonus.

  • http://jemimus.net Jemimus

I cant purchase the video or MP3 in the Netherlands, its not available on Itunes over here, and we dont have the Amazon MP3 store.

I swear, how dare the entertainment industries still hold up international licensing laws (the reason we cant get many songs on Itunes outside the US), when I am here, cash in hard, ready to pay, and then -still- complain about piracy.

In this case its even weirder because this song is being distributed by a group of people that completely understand this problem, but are being limited by the completely artificial barriers Apple and the record industry imposes on -everyone-, regardless.

Felicia, I hold high hopes the work you are doing is helping us break down the old-media barriers and enable the media market to flourish for both consumers and producers on a worldwide scope.

  • Amy Stardust

Yay! A date for season 3!! The guild is awesome. Felicia, you’re really a rising star! Joss knows how to pick ‘em. :)

  • Amy Stardust

Nate, It may only say “+5 dexterity” but it means 5 added to your dexterity. So “plus 5 to dexterity” makes perfect sense. ;)

  • stephanie b

I have serious feminist issues with this video. And I don’t think it’s funny.
Perhaps this video is intended as satire, but if so I have to call it an EPIC FAIL. Instead of problematizing the idea of someone wanting to (do more than just) date an avatar, the video glamorizes it instead, reinforcing degrading, sexist notions that women should always be sexually accessible to men.
Codex offers herself up as a passive, malleable object upon which people (presumably men given the heterosexism of later lyrics) may enact their sexual desires, saying that “You can type commands” and that she can “Be anything you want [her] to be.” She also says that “You’ll never see [her] actual face” as if that fact is advantageous, which again encourages her being perceived as simply an object. And having Felicia Day, looking beautiful and sexy, sing that her avatar is “hotter than reality by far” reinforces the idea that real women are always lacking in some way.
Clara becomes the victim of negative stereotypes of fat people. While Codex gets to be actually sexy, Clara’s flirtatious looks are comical. She also spends the bulk of the video consuming. Presumably a calorie-ridden beverage.
As one of Codex’s back-up dancers Tink is simply a prop, intended to make Codex even more sexually appealing to men. The other back-up dancers also become accessories in illustrating the male characters’ sexual prowess.
Zaboo and Vork get to be assertive instead of coy, saying that they have “stats so high” and an “uber-leet staff.” Zaboo also tells the “ladies” to “Close [their] mouths” after he mentions his staff, which presumes that just a mention of the fineness of his “staff” would make women (specifically) ready to pleasure him.
Bladezz is also comically flirtatious, but he gets back-up dancers to validate his sexual appeal where Clara does not.
All of you who are getting ready to hurl some “feminists have no sense of humour” comments my way can save your fingers the fatigue. That tool of patriarchy is getting pretty dull – it doesn’t work so well on me anymore.
I know this video is intended to be funny, but that doesn’t make the sexist ideas it reinforces any less dangerous. One in six women are sexually assaulted in their lifetime in this country, and I feel compelled to consider how things like this video (that promote the idea that women should always be sexually accessible and that women are simply passive objects on which sexual desires may be enacted) might enable that reality.

  • Bill

    Codex … a healer … stacking dexterity? What a nub :D

Hi guys, I saw the vid on WOW Insider and … WOW! I was going to post my congrats there but figured they’d get buried by the trolls. I’ve bought your DVD’s and downloaded the song – what an awesome parody: it’s production was superb and I expect it was done on a shoestring – so EPIC kudos. Felicia said she laughed when she was called rich so I guess it’s only famous -lol. Hope you don’t take this the wrong way (I think you guys deserve to be rich) but if you were I fear we might not get a third (hopefully 5th, 6th? season). Can’t wait for the 25th- I expect even more Streamy’s this year! BTW great backflip Sandeep!!!

it seems like the way they designed this video was just to ask everyone “hey, what do you want your character to do?”
    felicia: “act sexy”
    amy: “have backup dancers”
    vincent: “have girls”
    robin: “have a throne”
jeff & sandeep: “i dunno, we’ll just dance randomly. oh, and it’d be cool if we did a rap in the middle.”

Well, Clara is a mage so all the drinking could just be mana replenishment, couldn’t it? ;)

  • Seriously?

    @ stephanie b

The video isn’t about a real woman, it’s about her avatar.

And the avatar is “hotter than reality by far”. Real women ARE flawed in some way. No one is perfect. The avatar, on the other hand, is a computer-generated image for an online game…

I think that the premise of the video is that each character from the Guild is acting as their in-game character.

Codex, who is awkward in real life (er… in the Guild) is a sexual entity in the game because that’s her persona in-game, and that’s what she wants to be.

Vork and Zaboo are mmo-nerds in real life, but cool uber-loot carrying heroes in the game.

Bladezz has trouble with the ladies in the real world, but in the game there are no such problems.

Clara can eat and drink all she wants in-game without having to worry about “calorie-ridden” nonsense.

Finally, Tink is not “simply a prop”. She demonstrates tremendous dancing skills, and her expression and movement give off an aura of confidence (which translates into sex appeal).

I think you need to lighten up a bit more.

Also, lol@dexterity on a healer, and Zaboo: Dagger/OH typically provides more dps stats than a staff :P

OMFG relax a little. It’s a fun video, Felicia looks great in it along with everyone else. Plus all the women I know who play MMOs try and make their characters look and act more feminine to compensate for the fact that a lot more guys play than girls. It’s not sexist, and acting girly doesn’t necessarily mean you’re giving into a stereotype, or that you are being seen as simply a sexual object. You don’t need to act like a guy feel like you’re an equal.

  • Namfoodle

“Stephanie B.” – Why do you have a mustache?

Also, lighten up. In real life, most female avatars are actually dudes, anyway. Right?

  • Oniryu

I know I’m a day late and a dollar short but I just watched season 1 and 2………my sides still hurt from laughing so hard, OMG , great idea, great writing, amazing charters I applaud each and every one of you. Thank you for shading some (very funny) light on the MMO/RL drama. C U all in season 3.

  • Noah

Did you know a child in africa just died while you were wasting your time writing that long pointless comment, i hope your happy steph!

  • shady

Very nice!! lol It made my laugh for a while. Amy Okuda’s music video experience kinda shows. She looks amazing.

  • Lord Ao

    Amen

  • Peter

Nicely done. Don’t pay too much attention to the second-wave feminists, it’s a clever satire. If you can find a way to sell the video without DRM, I’ll buy a copy.

  • Steve Pogo

The song is available from iTunes now!

They just got my 99¢. :)

  • Foxman

Any chance of a “Rock Band” tie in? My wife loves to sing along with the song and we would love to do a rockband version of it…

    Awesome song – great job!

  • Foxman

Thats not the only place the lyrics differ from the song as in the video.

    =
Start of Song: Lyris are missing the inital:
*Do you wanna date my Avatar* (before Hang with me in my MMO…)
    =

    =
    Your right about the:
*Here* in cyberspace there’s no disease
    =

    =
    Lyrics Above:
    Close your mouths ladies
    This is pure nerd-nip

    Lyrics in the Video:
    Close your *mouth up* ladies
    This is pure nerd-nip
    =

    =
This one is debatable. In the lyrics Zaboo sings:
    Just twitta a time
However in the song it sounds like he prounces it properly
    Just *twitter* a time
I listened to it maybe 20 times and I swear it has the r on the end not an a.
    =

    =
At the end of the Lyrics it should say something like:

    CHORUS

    CHORUS

Do you wanna date my Avatar (repeat 8 times)
    =

Just nitpicking – awsome song I love it! ;)

Awesome. You guys are having a blast doing this series and I can tell you also had a blast with the Music Vid. However, it would be even better if like there were stories where we got to see game quests as either actual subplots or the real world being a subplot to the game world. I know. that would do better as a movie. This is supposed to make fun of gamers. Kinda already done, between Hackers and lol Spy Kids: Game Over.

but who is the backup dancer at the screen’s left?
she is incredibly cute, she dance very smoothy, perfect!

  • MoKa

Sheesh Stephanie. I would consider myself a feminist, but really, you need to take a chill pill and just enjoy the video for what it is; a harmless and VERY entertaining piece of fluff created to promote an online comedy show. I believe that Felicia does more for the power of women than most out there, and long may she continue.

There’s a time and a place for essays like yours; this is SO not it.

  • http:/www.fiddlersblog.com Daniel

Right after discovering this great video I watched every episode of The Guild – then I watched the music video again and I liked it even more. Totally awesome! And Felicia Day is a breathtaking beauty.

  • TigerLily

Okay, so I know Marissa Tancharoen is dancing in the video, but the backup vocals sound like they could be her as well. Can anyone tell me if that is indeed her singing behind Felicia?

This track and the video are both top notch. Kudos to all!

  • Dienne

That’s certainly what I took it as.

Lol, leave it to a feminist to ruin something fun. If they’re not screaming about something they’re not a TRUE feminist apparently.

Anyways, lovelovelove the video and am a definite fan after this video. Keep up the fantastic work, this stuff is hilarious to an MMO player like myself :)

  • FaerieFyre

Wait… you mean there’s people who watch “The Guild” that don’t know these kinds of things? O.o Haxx, I say! xD

In all fairness, the song is RIDDLED with nerd knowledge. Though it’s about an MMO, it’s got stuff from D&D to WoW and beyond in it. Though not playing as much as she did in the past (thankfully kicking the addiction), I’m really proud of how far Felicia has come and what she’s done for geek culture everywhere! xD

Not to mention… YES, GIRLS PLAY WOW… NOW, GET OVER IT. Sorry, had to say that. *gglz*

Much love to you guys! The song is hilarious! xD (and catchy, too… I’m gonna be singing it all through PAX this year…)

  • Osocod

There are ways to view anything and everything as sexist propaganda if you really want to. I think this is more clever than you’d think. Stephanie’s analysis is in itself a hilarious satire of the feminist movement, and i love it! :) ) Way to go Steph!

“Aaargh! Wtf! Look at this blank sheet of paper! What kind of sexist swine didn’t write anything on it!?!? Talk about giving passive support to the oppression of women! But you just wait and see, once we’ve cut all your d**** off we can talk business, ha ha. I’m gonna go stand and pee now.”

  • Hai Majide!

Seriously? It is a comment on how the avatars hide the real face of ALL people in MMO…

    Look at Vork’s rap…

    “I’m a pixel-based fantasy
    A man who is stoic
    I hack and slash
    Who the heck’s more heroic?”

Nobody thought of Vork as a bald, unemployed man living off his dead grandfather’s gov’t assistance. Does that mean men should all be up in arms about this negative portrayal???

The comments about typing commands and being whatever the other person wants refers to how easy it is to do things you wouldn’t dare in real life. No consequences… you can just logoff if you don’t like it.

Codex commented on that during one of her webcam monologues. If you are going to criticize the music video, at least watch the series first.

And Tink is not a prop… read the actor bios… Amy is a pro dancer and this is her first big acting gig… sheesh!

  • Hai Majide!!!

Great video! Love the sheepish look that Felicia gives at the end… it’s like a bit of the real life Codex comes through after her online persona dances and sings so confidently and beautifully

Awesome show, I like Codex’s monologues the best… but there are lots of choice lines throughout. The writing is incredible!

  • NinaFrog

    ROFLMAO…exactly what I was thinking!!!

  • NinaFrog

My 6 year old daughter is addicted to this song…good thing she doesn’t have a therapist who can fire her over it (although her daddy is drawing the line at 4 repetitions per day).

Our whole family are gamers, moms, dads, papas, brothers, sisters, uncles, etc…and this whole premise is SO spot on! (Especially giving my love to Clara, the gamer-mom!) Please keep things going…I can’t wait to see what happens next!

  • Dave

Sexual accessibility is a reality of social relationships among youth cliques. Just because you don’t get pleasure from acting sexy or acting like a siren doesn’t make the idea or action immoral or somehow degrading. It’s an expression of sexuality created by men AND women who understand that sexual expression is about as serious as any other kind. The interpretations that you’re vomiting only cause ironic thoughts about the role of women in a growing sexual atmosphere. I wouldn’t have even thought about any of that “symbolism” had you not brought it up, and you bickering about how awful it is while missing the point of the piece, well who knows what backwards affect you might have had on my view towards women.
You’re a bad person causing ripples that lead to the very waves you cry out against.

  • Elasmo

  • Nymarie

    @Stephanie B.
Lighten up. Geez you give us feminists a bad name. And you know what? I think Felicia Day is an excellent role model. She’s pretty, funny, and can hold her own against the world. That’s a real woman.

I play a sexy blood elf priest in WoW and I deal with a lot of chauvinism from day to day and I LOVED this video. Catchy tune, FANTASTIC dancing, amusing nerdy references and everything.

  • John Jacobs

    Vork for President!!!

  • Sheer

That Stephanie B. person has obviously never played an MMO before. Speaking as a WoW geek, there was a time when my avatar was hit on numerous times by an insistent n00b – I expressed disinterest, then told the person I was a dude when that didn’t work, and he was like, “I don’t care, your avatar’s hot!” (Creepily enough, I was an undead priest at the time. If you don’t know, the undead are, like, the opposite of hot, unless you’re into saggy boobs and/or necrophilia.)

Also, I thought Clara’s role in the video greatly represented my own experiences as a mage. I have my character constantly drinking something to get her mana back, and in a way, mages are akin to group royalty (hence Clara’s throne) – we sit back and let our “armies” (tanks) take the damage. My reasoning is a bit of a stretch, I know, but it makes sense in my head. :P

I took Zaboo’s comment about the ladies and their mouths to mean that their jaws dropped in shock, not “big pen0r? okay, I’m ready to blow you now! =O” Anyone with half a brain not devoted to victimizing their own gender through deluded notions of patriarchal oppressions could’ve seen that, I think.

I’m all for feminism, but not when it’s acidic like that, and not when it insists that all women everywhere are still in the subordinate role. There are still some areas of life that are like that, true, but dude – lighten up a little.

But I digress. The Guild, the video was awesomely hilarious (and relate-able, as I mentioned above), and it got me into your web-show, which is equally awesome and hilarious. I got my fiance to watch the videos with me, and I’ve been spreading that music video like it’s creamy peanut butter. ^.^

  • Nate

@Imaria, @benzo8, @Shirila, @V, @Shane, @Amy Stardust: thanks for the lesson! I have to say I’ve never come across the “+X to Stat” phrasing… always just “+X Stat”; “+5 dexterity vest” rather than “+5 to dexterity vest”.

  • Richard

  • Violanna

actually i think it was a +5 to her ‘sexterity’! lmao i love Zaboo! i swear this somg is how i found out bout the show ima huge WoW geek. and now i have an awesome theme song!

  • Bevoh

I gotta agree with the Amy looks amazing post. I was never all that into her as the cute one. But, after watching that video I see her in a totally different light. She has some great moves and is pretty darn cute in Real Life too.

  • Sammy

“One in six women are sexually assaulted in their lifetime in this country, and I feel compelled to consider how things like this video (that promote the idea that women should always be sexually accessible and that women are simply passive objects on which sexual desires may be enacted) might enable that reality”

Sexual assault has nothing to do with sex and desire and everything to do with power. Therefore this video has nothing to do with promoting “that reality”. It does sexualize women, but it’s a parody. Try taking it as such.

  • The gentle feminist

Hi – I just wanted to speak up in support of Stephanie and her feminist comment. I know a lot of people responded with something along the lines of ‘lighten up’, a sentiment that I hear often. “It’s just a video. It doesn’t affect anything.” “It’s one person.” “It doesn’t affect what you’re talking about.” “I don’t affect what you’re talking about.”

Now, imagine *everyone* saying that. That’s a lot people who think that their actions ‘don’t count’.

But they do. Everyone’s actions and everyone’s words count – we’re all responsible for changing the world. One video at a time.

I’m not saying this video will directly lead to someone being raped. But I agree with Stephanie that it does reinforce values like that women are hotter in a computer game – or airbrushed, or shaved, or changed in any way – than how we are born in real life. It’s degrading, and it’s something I want to change. And that attitude *does* lead to violence against women and rape, so anything that reinforces the attitude reinforces the violence and oppression.

No one has to agree with me or anything, and I’d appreciate a lack of flaming. I’m just posting my support.

  • http://None Carmichael

All the wacky faux-feminism issues aside, I really love this music video, and I’m not even a gamer (The last games that I played substantially were on Nintendo 64, and Super NES before that)!!

I love this vid so much, that I’ve had to watch it like a billion times in the past week, join this site’s forum, watch all of the episodes (hadn’t even seen them before), and I can’t get this song out of my head!!! lol

Anyways, just wanted to tell the whole cast & crew that they are amazing and I am looking forward to all that they will be doing in the future!

    Thanks,

That..was hilarious. I had such a good time just watching that music video. The lyrics sold me most of all though. I love innuendos and they were so clever and witty I couldn’t help but re-watch this at least three times. The dance scenes and the random moments with Bladez were just as funny. Oh, and I LOVE when Vork and Zaboo spit. That was hilarious lol. You ALL did an amazing job with this. I’m very glad I chose to finally sit down and give this a watch. The production and quality was so impressive and so high..that it blows A LOT of songs that come on the radio NOW (and again..video was amazing..Tink..is a real beauty heh..I’m glad she danced cause it was very good). Please, make more just like that. The flow and beat were mellow and great (and the quick rap session flowed SO well. MAJOR points for diversity).

    Can’t wait for episode 2. ;)

  • http://www.carlamichelle.com Elsavon

So I have to admit that after years of my D&D, Cyberpunk, and LARP friends trying to get me to try WoW, it was finally this video that broke down the barriers. After seeing the video on Xbox LIVE I downloaded all of seasons one & two. I wathced them all back to back, laughing through the cramps in my sides. After seeing the comradre that is possible in a guild (parody or not) I decided to finally give in and try out WoW. I love it, I love all the people I have met in game and I love Felcia for helping me to realize that cool, hot girls are allowed to play MMOs also.

After reading just about all the posts on here I can’t help but comment…sigh…I consider myself to be semi-femenist aka Anti-FemiNazi. As mentioned before this is simply a video about everyones make believe charcter. See it as an imaginary friend if you will, our avatars are an extension of ourselves. And yes everyone is beautiful in their own way, so What is wrong with showing our beauty through our avatars? Sexy or not?

The problem with women is they still view themselves as a 100% separate entity from men. When you stop viewing things in black and white/ male and female/ geek or cool person those barriers will naturally tumble. People are people, the world is grey – learn that and sexism and femenism will slide to the wayside.

On a happy note I have the video saved on my Xbox, it is a favorite on YouTube and I just bought the mp3 from Amazon! Can’t wait to see the rest of season 3 and hopefully more music videos *nudges ‘Guild Management’*

P.S. WoW Sucks! Guild Wars RUUUUULES!!! :D

  • Mark

    Hey Gentle,

You don’t think that it works both ways? Attractive female characters in general are more alluring than that of the real life counterparts due to engineering, simple as. It works the same way for men and we know it…

I think you guys need to realize that person likes and dislikes are merely opinions and not the laws of the land :P

  • Lethkhar

Do you think that maybe you’re the one who is being sexist, here? The line, “While Codex gets to be actually sexy, Clara’s flirtatious looks are comical.” strikes me in particular. What do you exactly mean by Codex “gets to be” sexy? Do you think it’s some kind of privilege to be attractive to men? And who are you to judge Clara’s looks and actions as “comical” just because she’s overweight?

All I’m saying is that it seems like you yourself might be suffering from the same mindset that you’re fighting against. Think about it.

I thought the video was hilarious.

  • Phil

Just thought i’d applaud the quality of the music. very catchy and something i definately wouldn’t mind listening to on my mp3 while sat on the bus.

As feminism seems to be becoming an issue i’d like a show of hands as to how many masculinists are here…….oh yeah thats right none. to even bring the topic of sexual abuse into a comment on a music video suggests something about your personality. the first thing i need to say on this subject is men get sexually abused too. that door swings both ways and a dude prancing around in armour is just as alluring to the ladies as a girl is to men (i should know because i’ve been to a few LARP events and seen the effects armour has on the ladies) so if you want to make comments like that don’t make it sound like only the girls would get it. i’m sure many women out there would love to show Vork a damn good time……end of rant.

  • Misa

I love your show guys, I’m hanging for more episodes of season 3! Keep up the great work, I’ll be sure to tell everyone to watch it! P.S. The music video is really really great! Any chance of any more in the future? :P

What the heck is wrong with you? You’re gonna have some serious health issues being this crabby all the time. This video is intended for people with a sense of humor, and I think it’s frackin hilarious, as well as the show itself. If you feel the need to liberate women so badly, then get out of this country and go to a country where women are really being oppressed. Though i doubt you’d last very long there spouting off like you do. As for The Guild, keep up the excellent work. I’m a huge fan.

Stephanie B – get a grip on the reality of MMO’s I guarantee I look nothing like the Avatars in WoW, Everquest or any other MMO. The only “EPIC FAIL” is your “serious feminist issue” you obviously have issues and I hope you are seeing some one professionaly for help. You read way too much into this simple video and assume your perception of this video is the only “correct” one. As this is a free society and you are welcome to your opinion, however please do not assume yours is the only correcct one.

@ Stephanie B you do know the way this video is is playing on the actions of the way the actors are irl and the way their characters are protrayed in the game Codex was a supposive flirt leading Zaboo on but shared no interest in being with him irl.
Zaboo is a creepy guy who stalks people and uses unnecissary Sexual comments so the term “close your mouths ladies” would be playing on his character..
Tink is a dancer irl so it would be no surprise if she wanted to do backup dancing for the video
Clara yes may be fat irl but the video is not saying that at all sure she eats food in a flirting way but Clara’s character in the show is a flirt as well and SHE is a frost mage and Mages are generally drinking water and what not and who says its a high calorie drink for all you know that could just be water….in a goblet
Bladezz in the show his character is a 16 yr old boy who is a flirt your typical horny teenager flirting with any chick he sees that finds hot so it would be no surprise as well if in the video he was surrounded by woman…
And lastly Vork..is a warrior and generally warriors have high ammounts of stats in a game cause they where plate gernally not only that in the show his character stole his neighbors internet and shed so the use of “hack” would make sense he also deals with a chinese gold farmer.

And as another thought in MMO games there are chicks and sometimes men who do this to get what they want

chicks will manipulate guys in game to get gear or gold or whatever they want I play WoW and I know a lot of them and yes they are chicks irl and being a chick that doesn’t approve of this I don’t really get along with them. and I also have to deal with guys like Zaboos character constantly hitting on me so the show does play up to real MMO encounters even though they play a game that doesn’t really exsist Felcia Day used to Be addicted to DND and WoW and so she made this show based on what she knew and probably expirience from playing it and she did a good job this show is great
And theres men who will pretent they are chicks to get attention and also gear and what not I’ve seen it and its sad…

I’m a chick myself and I don’t see any thing anti femanist about this video its funny

  • Kae-Kun

Ah, for someone so passionate you fail to mention that 1 in 10 boys are victims of attempted or successful molestation as well. Not to mention that this video is talking of events in a cyberspace setting, not in real life. In cyberspace anyone has to potential to be exactly who they want, or to fit exactly what someone else wants. It has nothing to do with “inferiority” or “imperfection,” rather it demonstrates the ability to fulfill a fantasy that is impossible or very unlikely in real life.

  • Kae-Kun

I believe this is based off of World of Warcraft, as Felicia mentions in an interview she used to be an adict, and therefore Tinkerballa would in fact be based off of a Hunter (and in Season 3 Codex offers Tinkerballa a list of Hunter abilities and changes included in the expansion).

  • Brett

This is your best work yet; everyone who worked on it outdid themselves. It was cool to see your actors playing their characters playing their characters.

Only a few nits from an amateur but aspiring videographer. Would have liked to see more backgrounds besides just the plain white scrim. (Yes, I know the white scrim makes editing easier, but the prettiest shots by far were the ones with backgrounds. Also, if you green screen some of the backgrounds in, you can edit a whole bunch and the backgrounds will not jump.) Lip synching could have been better (though it does mean a lot of chanting as you’re filming). Some cuts were a bit quick; couldn’t really catch the flow of the dance routine. But still, again, your best work and I’m sure you will do even better stuff in the future.

Lol at you. In the words of Tinkerballa, “QQ more…”

If you dont like it, buzz off and wah wah somewhere else. If anything, Felicia is a role model for women, on her success alone in a male dominated industry. In fact all 3 producers, the creator/writer, and one of the directors are women.

To me your comments shows nothing but the fact that your jealous that no one likes you for your looks, and judging by your display picture, im not surprised, i dont either. Dont get me wrong, i dont like you for your personality as well. Theres absolutely nothing wrong with looking sexy.

Oh and on the Clara pigging out, she pigs out on the show! Maybe you should watch it and understand what its all about. And yes, as far as i can see, obesity is a negative aspect of life, such as health and social wise, so dont try to justify it. Robin is obviously comfortable with her size and is more than happy to move on and do her thing, which you’re obviously too far up yourself to understand. Rather than judging her acting, and how in the show she is portrayed as the bad mother that never pays attention to her kids, you judge her looks, which last i heard feminists were against that, you hypocrite.

Besides, women sexualise men just as well, especially in popular shows such as Sex and the City which women love so much…

But the biggest offender comment of all is: “All of you who are getting ready to hurl some “feminists have no sense of humour” comments my way can save your fingers the fatigue. That tool of patriarchy is getting pretty dull – it doesn’t work so well on me anymore.”

The fact that you cant even handle criticism even though you are so willing to put yours out there, shows a sign of weakness; The fact that you cant handle being proven wrong shows how single minded and self righteous you are. The world would be better without people like you. You’re allowed to have an opinion, as long as you can understand that what you think isnt what everyone else should think, it isnt the law. Leave the internet for grown ups you immature twit.

Stumbled across Do You Wanna Date My Avatar by accident when looking at vids about Avatar the movie on YouTube. Then watched interviews with Felecia and the story behind The Guild. After watching the first episode, I am a fan! Went straight to iTunes to show support by buying vids and music! Love you guys!

  • Alex

I do not see how this video could be anti-feminist…
Althought i do think Felicia did a great job on the show, and i am spreading the word about it to my friends.

” Do you wanna date my avatar” is a fantastic song, because its not neccessairly the kind of manistream music that you hear on the radio. The song has a catchy beat, and the lyrics are hilarious. I dont play Wow so i am not familiar with the terms used in the song, but after some research i understand :P .

Im probably the youngest fan of the show(im 12),but i think its amazing and very well-writen. If any cast members or writers of the guild actually read the comments, then i would like to say to them nice work and keep it up.

The Guild is definetly a show worth watching :)

    Stephanie,

Feminist do have a sense of humor. Are you sure you are a feminist? You do not sound like one. You discuss what is sexually appropriate in such a restrictive tone that one can but conclude that you only recognize that there is only one appropriate female sexual behavior. Feminist have argue for centuries that woman have many different sexual natures and that they should be allowed to express them without criticism and/or shaming. Perhaps you should broaden your outlook to include the thoughts of other feminist besides the ones that you have been reading. You might find a greater peace.

Good luck in life. Live, Love and Learn.

depends on the MMO you play. In DDO (Dungeons and Dragons Online) most people simply would say +5 Dex vest. the word “to” is two letters more than I need to type.
