I like how people cant wait for 1 more week for this to be viewed to everyone. But I also love how money plays a giant factor in peoples mind. I get that the guild producer needs the money but I think that it will make the shower worse over time. Everyone can see the changes with this about the “xbox360 people will be able to see the show before the fans that made this show popular because xbox funds us first” type of things. Whats next? The Guild are going to limit the uploads of their videos to the public *cough**cough*like what they did to season 2 on youtube*cough**cough*. Well I might be just pushing this to far but im not surprise if I see this happen sooner or later. To end off in a good note is that The Guild I must say is the best INTERNET series in the world so far =)

Thats a shame. It is on MSN.COM as well. Microsoft funds your favorite online show, so it makes sense they get first dibs. Welcome to the real world.

Great show, just watched the whole thing in one sitting, feel like I’m reading posts from a really popular game’s forum after they just announced said game was delayed for the second time (actually first…but).
    Like HL2 ep3 I’m ok waiting.

It truly amazes me that people can be so demanding and rude about something that’s free. I think it’s a sign of our times – people think they are entitled to everything instantly. I’m guessing that if people had even the slightest idea of the budget for a production like this, they would be amazed that it was ever available free. I feel sad that Felicia and Kim have to deal with the negativity. I guess this is an example of the old saying, If you give a mouse a cookie … he’s going to want you to become his personal Keebler elf for all eternity!

As a fan with no Xbox, I’m still just totally STOKED for Season 3!! That music video was awesome, and I’ve committed myself to buying the DVDs for myself for my birthday.

I don’t think waiting 1 week for an episode is such a huge deal. It’s totally understandable to give a little back to the company that made this possible. I’m so thrilled that a third season was made, and I think everyone else should be, too. I love the show, and I’d wait a year for the next episode without complaints, if that’s what it took.
I think it’s silly to suggest that they shouldn’t make some money to help cover the costs of the show. And I think most of the fans do understand.
But you know, the whiny ones are usually just more vocal.

We’re with you, guys! You have an extremely loyal fanbase, and I don’t think you need to feel guilty about anything. I totally agree with Christian, and all the other people who are defending the cast and crew.

    I’m so excited!!

Seriously – I don’t think some of you understand how expensive and time-consuming it is to put together ONE 5 minute episode, let alone an entire SEASON. It’s not as cheap as all that (and that’s WITHOUT trying to pay those involved), and it certainly doesn’t pay well enough to quit pursuing other acting jobs during the day or whatever. It’s easy to label Microsoft “The Man”, but without them, we wouldn’t be able to enjoy this show. Keep yer panties on, people! Season 3 is coming next week for the masses! :) I CAN’T WAIT! (but I will.)

Hi! Just wanted to drop by and congratulate everyone involved in this production, specially Felicia and Kim, they are the soul and core of The Guild and doing what they love for free and pouring their talent and their time in this has got to mean much more for us fans, than waiting a week. Give them a break!

Also, you got my vote for an MTV award, or even an Emmy new category for webshows, I’m there!

BTW I was wondering how are you handling your translated versions? I’ve literally become a fan just a week ago and I’ve watched all the episodes and could not be more hooked on The Guild and reading Felicia’s comments about the issues that have displeased some people I thought I could help out and give my little grain.

I’d be honored and glad to translate your episodes (all of them if you need to) to spanish (there are many fans que hablan español). Let me know if I can help.

So congrats, keep it up you are all doing a GREAT job. Wish you all the best and I believe you got a really good sponsor, come on people, cut them some slack!

    Un saludo inmenso desde Ecuador!

Been playing EverQuest II for the past three years, after leaving Feathermoon (WoW). Everyone on the Antonia Bayle server kept telling me to watch the “Do You Want To Date My Avatar” and finally gave in. Now I plan on purchasing your videos through iTunes – since Zune has been removing tracks of your past episodes.

You have quality work, and I nearly fell in lust over Codex’s video. All the actors and actresses are great, and the background dancers are also cuties.
Zaboo… eeek! I hope it’s just acting, Codex could do far better, even better than the cyclops (the one-eyed stuntman). She’s a cute lil rascal. *wink*

Once I get some revenue coming in more than what I have, will be purchasing your videos. Can’t afford to purchase now, trying to keep a roof over my head means cutting expenditures.
I got many a laughs watching your videos, and often wonder if that was me when I was so heavy into MMORPG games.

Keep up the excellent work Codex & Company. It’s more if this crazy recession than anything, and those cheap kids that want it all for free.

    Speaking of the whiners…

/hands Codex a frozen trout and a new emote /troutslap

PS: Would be really cool if you actually used a frozen trout or salmon slap in one of your upcoming shows. ;)
BTW, that was an intentional wink, wasn’t “my” shift key slipping. =b

I too was initially disappointed — but at the same time, I’m still so thrilled that Felicia and the crew have the opportunity to continue making this great series. I don’t think many of us really understand the amount of work that goes into even these short episodes, and it all takes talented people and, yes, $$$. Unfortunately, Felicia can’t just go and mine gold or slay the enemies to earn enough to pay everyone. Wouldn’t that be nice though… pay for the filming while filming :)

I appreciate Felicia coming on as well and explaining why things came about the way they did — this whole anonymous environment makes it too easy to criticize everyone else when it’s not what we want. And that really isn’t fair to everyone involved in the project, when I’m sure they’re doing everything that they can to make this the best that they can.

Thanks for putting together a great concept, a great story, and just a great crew! And I’ll have to wait patiently until Tuesday!

I would easily pay more for this than crappy, over-produced hollywood productions AND have the patience to wait it out on DVD.

I just wanted to say, thank you all so much for your amazing work on this series, especially you, Felicia! I stumbled across this on youtube last year and I absolutely love it. It makes me laugh so hard, often I watch them over again when I’m bored, and they just never get old. I appreciate so much all the time and effort you guys have put into this. To me (and I know countless others), this is really one of the best web series out there, and I have been so impressed by how it continues to be funny and original for every episode. I hope the other fans will stop griping about how they have to wait an extra week. Big deal. I’m glad you have a sponsor and this series is well worth the wait. No apologies needed. Thanks again! :)

Boo-frickity-hoo. I wouldn’t have a problem if they made the entire show pay-to-view, and in that vein I certainly hope you guys get a bit from Microsoft for the gold user only week.

I don’t have a gold membership, but I certainly don’t mind waiting and I plan on buying season 2 for DVD.

Felicia, you guys are awesome, and I cannot wait for season 3! Also, to the few of you with negative comments: certain fanboys need to grow up and stop complaining (or at least get a job and have to pay some bills!). Ever had to pay rent? Well these very talented, very dedicated actors and crew members have to. So cut them a break, and let them get some extra money from sponsors where they can. You are NOT entitled to these episodes – Felicia and the others could quit now. So show a little appreciation, seriously.

Also, if the guild series put sooooo much money in the actors pockets, why is Felicia doing SEARS commercials ? Hmmmm….let us think …… OH! TO MAKE THE GUILD WEB SHOW FOR US THE FANS!!! Hey there guys. It’s ok. A week. I applaud Felicia Day and her company for all the dedication that they have put into this! As a fellow professional actor (and gamer girl) I know just how hard it is to keep personal projects alive!
Felicia, your writing is superb and the amount of love and heart that you and all the other members of the cast and crew have put into this is outstanding, and no matter how impatient people get, I think you will always have something to be proud of.

*Sigh* Can’t believe I still have to wait a whole 2 more days for WESLEY CRUSHER!!! I don’t know if any of you watch the show Leverage on TNT, but Wil Wheaton was in this past week’s episode playing, of course, a computer hacker. I get where Felicia and the cast and crew are coming from and my only gripe with them was, as Felicia said, they could have been clearer about the release schedule. I don’t think it would have bugged me half as much if I had been expecting it(although, I probably should have expected Microsuck to pull something like this). I hope this platform-exclusive crap dies out soon, I’m getting tired of having to wait months to a year on end for expansions, DLC, and now videos because corporate fatcats shelled out big bucks for an exclusivity deal.

    PISS ON THE CORPORATE MACHINE!!!

In the meantime… time to go watch the Star Trek Family Guy episode.

I wanted to buy an xbox for a while and Season 2 is the reason I broke down and got one. I have had some costumer service nightmares with xbox live and came dangerously close to canceling my gold membership but Season 3 was coming and Netflix has gotten a lot better so I didn’t.

Long story short… (Too Late!) I wouldn’t own an xbox if not for The Guild. I wouldn’t still pay for gold membership if not for The Guild. So I for one appreciate the early release for gold members because quite frankly the customer service is really really bad.

Love you guys. Love the show.
(Just keep making those episodes longer and longer until you get to about 22 minutes and stop there)

Everyone crying about not being able to see the video at the same time as the xbox gold members just need to shut the fuck up imo. Producing a show, even if an episode is only 5 to 7 minutes long still takes MONEY! Like Felicia said, if it wasnt for xbox and microsoft, seasons 2 and 3 would not have been possible from donations alone. Unless the people crying about it are willing to step up and fund the series like Microsoft, they have not a single iota of ground to stand on. I for one, am happy that a corporate sponsor stepped in and made the continuation of The Guild possible. Kudos to Felicia and the crew on a fanstastic series. I for one, regadless of wait, will continue to follow.

I have no problem with waiting. All the people involved in making ‘The Guild’ deserve to get paid for their work. If an exclusive period with MSN or Microsoft or whoever gets them something, then that’s what they have to do. If I wasn’t so long out of work I’d contribute a few bucks myself but unfortunately that’s not an option for me right now. (Sorry. :( )

While I’m sure Ms. Day and the others are gratified that we’re all enjoying their work and looking forward to more so much let’s remember our manners.

How can it be put politely…..1 week wait so you guys can actually get paid for your genious….About bloody time!!!

I’m glad to see a show like this growing to a point where those with the means actually want to cash in.

I’m all for waiting if it means that Felicia and co can get paid for what is by far one of the best web shows out now.

Those of you that have slammed them for doing so need to take a step back and think about all the work thats gone into this show and what you’d need to do to make it. Maybe then you’ll have some respect for the brilliance of those that have done this and will wait quitely for 7 whole days, I mean come on dudes, seriously… its 1 week, thats all.

    Ok rant over.
To Felicia and team I wish the best of luck and will keep watching and crying with laughter.
Have fun making it guys, you deserve it.

  39. Posted August 30, 2009 at 5:46 am | Permalink

I cannot believe that people are whining that the main sponsor of the show wants a tiny benefit for sponsoring it. A week’s exclusivity for one episode is nothing, they could have easily justified 3 months, or even wait until the whole series had finished on Gold before releasing it through other channels.

I think MS are being incredibly generous. I can imagine the commissioning editor going to his boss to explain the business case for sponsoring “The Guild” and the boss saying “Is that all we get?”.

Felicia, next time you have a discussion with MS about sponsorship, get them to quadruple your budget and offer a year’s exclusivity!

Ignore the Trustafarians (GB term for people who don’t earn an income, but have it provided by their parents and are completely divorced from fiscal reality), they live in a fantasy world as completely as the guild do.

And, stop apologising to these people. They should be greatful that you even bother to get up in the morning.

I know I’m massively late to the game here, but speaking as someone who watches the Guild from watchtheguild.com – I’m more than happy to wait for episodes, if it means that you and the rest of the cast actually start being rewarded for making the show I enjoy so much. People don’t seem to understand how lucky they are when it comes to this sort of entertainment, and it’s amazing the sense of entitlement they achieve.

I, for one, am grateful to have been able to watch the first two seasons of the show for free already. I appreciate the *gift* of your talents as a cast and crew, and I’m sorry that some people can’t just be thankful for the gifts they do get, rather than whining about the unfairness of not getting the same perks as those who have paid for a service. I see this all over the Internet, but it’s particularly galling to see it directed at lovely people like yourselves.

Keep up the good work, and I hope the general support from the fanbase helps you all to ignore these little nuggets of rude entitlement.

  42. Posted August 30, 2009 at 10:17 am | Permalink

Thanks for making The Guild. You do a wonderful job of entertaining me.

I find it very disappointing, but not surprising, that people complain about things as petty as a release date. I appreciate the fact that you’re producing a groundbreaking program for us to enjoy *completely for free*.

The internet provides the perfect screen for people to be rude, and that’s a shame. You have bills to pay, nothing in life is free, and I support your decisions to do what you need to do. The Guild, while “for” the fans, ultimately belongs to Felicia Day.

Thanks again for creating a high-quality product.

You know, we’re talking about something most people here have watched for 2 seasons for free and gotten hours of entertainment out of, so anyone who flips out over having to wait a week to watch the first ep of S3 is simply being a brat, period. I just hope everyone involved in making the show knows that most of fandom is just happy you guys have found a sponsor to work with in XBox that has let all of us enjoy more Guild goodness! Seven days won’t kill anyone around here, people. If you’re cussing out those providing you with entertainment, maybe you need to step off the comp for a bit and take a walk or watch the news to get some perspective.

I’ll kill the extra week re-watching Season 2 or jamming out to “Do You Wanna…” a few more times! It’s really not that hard. Can’t wait for the new awesomeness!

I just want to start by saying it’s a great show, probably one sitcom I would watch on a regular basis really. Interestingly enough, some gamers really are like that and I think it’s great that even though it’s satirical…it’s so very close to the truth, hehe. Props to the Knights of the Good and the Guild cast, yall should keep it rolling for a few years, that’s some funny stuff right there!!

There was one other comment to make about the “I have to wait so long for the season 3 episode 1 because I’m not an XBoX Live Gold Member, that’s stupid!!” thing going around.

Just think, if they never let you know that it would premiere on XBOX Live before everywhere else…you wouldn’t get the queue to start whining about it, cause technically you wouldn’t have a clue til season 3 came out everywhere else. In other words…stop beings little babies.

With such a great show, just be glad they have a season 3 and be content with a few days of wait time…people want to live so fast these days, sheesh.

You guys have done an awesome job with this show to date. I just sat down and watched the first and second season. I have to say I was curious how it turn out, due to them being only a couple minutes long, but it has surpassed my expectations. I was curious if you have kept the new season around 5 minutes long per show or do they progressively get longer like in the second season? Was it planned or did the script just end up taking that long to record?

Count me in the “almost bought an x-box” category. That was the point I was at when the video came out. I was like, “Hey! My brother has an Xbox!” too bad he’s 5 states away! lol

I love this show, and I don’t mind Microsoft or anybody else having that kind of exclusivity if it means we get another season of “The Guild”. I hope we get at least another 3 seasons. I can wait a week, and I can wait another 24 hours.

I think the concern is that there are many fans that do not even have an xbox and cannot/will not get a gold xbox live subscription, but would gladly pay for your work. Perhaps in the future you can maybe release on iTunes a week before youtube or something. This way all of your fans have access rather than limiting the initial release to a small portion and causing many to feel slighted.

I don’t mind waiting until the 1st, though.
